ought-ism

(
til we can be ourselves
and not act as we ought to
for someone else  --
(
how can we shed our masks?
how can we have faces?
and dare to see that face in the mirror;
(
how can we love ourselves?
)
then, finally;
make peace with the universe
forgive others, forgive ourselves;
)
fare well with love,
fare well to fear itself;
even unto death.
